Up in the Air

Its getting hard to keep humble - I won the last one. Actually I have entered photos in a few "real' photo contests lately. That's where I'm learning humility.

This week Colin chose the topic "up in the air."

Judges, perhaps you are getting bored with this already. If so, just hand off your judging responsibilities off to someone else. You don't even have to tell me. I don't care if they are related or not.

JK - Portlock Point with Diamond Head in the background. I was watching and even with the wave in shadow, if it splashed high enough "up in the air" it caught the sunlight. 

 Yes, I gave the other photographers  the opportunity to add a caption or a sentence or two. They did not take advantage of this.

City Scene at Night.

Cori was the winner of  "The Void." Good work Cori. I'm glad that one is behind us.
This week it's my turn and I chose the much more straight forward "City Scene at Night."  Taking photos at night is a special skill that takes lots of practice. To start with , its dark, well, sort of. Mixed in there's a lot of light, much of it too bright. So its a balancing act. The biggest headache for me is streetlights. I wish they weren't there.

Cori is on Vacation and isn't participating this week.

JK - This was taken a few blocks from home. You're looking  South towards Punchbowl St from right above the H1 Freeway. Sometimes night photography, especially time lapse, can turn a boring scene into something magical.

CK  If it doesn't look like the Bay area, its not. Those are the bright city lights of . . .Waimanalo.

THE VOID

This one gave us all a hard time. Colin chose as his topic "The Void". What???? He said he wanted to push us to think. Well, it worked.

OLD

Judges, you're going to have fun with this one. It was Cori's turn this week to pick the topic. She chose "OLD."

I'm just in this to learn more about photography but for those out there keeping score, I won the last one.

Judges: I know I'm asking a lot here but besides the scores could you please offer up some comments/complaints/ advice about the photos? We all are trying to learn what other people think about our pictures.
